IT’S TIME TO FIX OUR UPSIDE-DOWN TAX CODE.

For too long, the wealthy few have rigged the system for their own financial gain. Working families are paying far more than our share of state taxes. When the wealthy pay what they owe, our Washington State economy can support all of us. Students, families, workers, small businesses, and more will have what we need! We believe that together, we can build a Washington that works for everyone.

ACT NOW! Tell Governor Ferguson to Sign Revenue Bills into Law

During this session, lawmakers avoided $9.4 billion in cuts to education, health care, housing and other services by raising revenue – expanding the capital gains tax, closing tax loopholes, and increasing taxes on big corporations.

Send an email now to tell Governor Ferguson to pass these bills:

  • SB 5813: increases taxes on the capital gains of mega-millionaires and billionaires by adding an additional 2.9% tax on capital gains over $1 million
  • SB 5794: closes tax loopholes for special interests like gold bullion sellers
  • HB 2081: applies an additional 0.5% surcharge on businesses with taxable income over $250 million

Show the Governor that we want to stop cuts to child care, education, housing, health care, and other crucial services – send your email now!

WE’RE FIGHTING FOR A FAIR AND JUST TAX CODE – SO ALL WASHINGTONIANS CAN THRIVE.

A WASHINGTON STATE ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR ALL OF US

CHALLENGING ECONOMIC INEQUALITY

Right now, our Washington State economy only works for the wealthy. Our tax code feeds systems of inequality. Low- and middle-income families – most of us – pay up to 18% of our incomes in state and local taxes. The wealthy pay only 3%.

Most of us work hard for our families. But our tax code makes it much harder to save money, build wealth, and pass it down to our children.

We believe that the best way to challenge economic inequality in Washington is to fix our upside-down tax code and make the wealthy pay their share in taxes.

FIGHTING FOR
TAX JUSTICE

We can’t move toward economic equality without a fair and just tax code. That’s why we’re committed to fighting for tax justice!

When the wealthy pay what they owe, we will be able to build the futures our families and communities deserve.

We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken toward fixing our broken tax code – like the capital gains tax – which has brought in millions for childcare and school funding.

At the same time, our fight isn’t over yet. Our families and communities deserve an economy that works for everyone – and a tax code that’s fair and just.

BUILDING THRIVING COMMUNITIES

Imagine a Washington where every working family can access childcare. Where we have enough school funding to truly support our students and teachers. Where our communities have accessible healthcare, reliable public transportation, and affordable housing, and good jobs so we can care for our families.

We believe that when we all come together, including the wealthy paying their share, our Washington State economy will grow and thrive. Students across the state will have safe and supportive places to learn. Families will have roofs over their heads. Communities will have access to healthcare. We’ll be able to build thriving communities – because we’ll have all the tools we need.
